Lauren Parish, LAc
Lauren believes that medicine and social justice should be intimately entwined. She has seen the flaws of how the mainstream healthcare system treats members of marginalized communities and hopes to provide an empowering and safer space for all individuals to receive quality healthcare. In her practice, Lauren uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, cupping, guasha, electrical stimulation, and shiatsu body work.
Lauren is a graduate of Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and a licensed acupuncturist. After graduating she completed a hospital internship at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China. Lauren completed her undergraduate degree at Humboldt State University where she received a degree in Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Multicultural Queer Studies.
Lauren comes from a background in working with social justice nonprofit organizations. In California, she served on the board of a local LGBT political non-profit that focused its efforts on issues like anti-bullying and transgender justice. Lauren has campaigned for marriage equality in California and Oregon and she has dedicated several years to working on cannabis legalization. She has worked with both organizations and college campuses to bring a survivor centered approach to sexual assault prevention.
Lauren spends her free time cooking vegan feasts, reading, and spending as much time as possible with her amazing partner and her adorable little dog Oshinko. She is so honored to be a part of the Equi team and to have the opportunity to serve her community!
