After diligently working to gain 501c3 status, The Equi Institute received our determination letter from the IRS and is now officially a non-profit!
To enrich the health of the Trans, Queer, Gender Diverse and Intersex communities through trauma-informed care, culturally-affirming medical services and social justice advocacy.
Sacred Vessel is in the process of dissolving and donating all assets to The Equi Institute. The Equi Institute assumed all clinic operations starting July 1st, 2019.
The front desk email will change to email@example.com
The Equi Institute Board will start officially governing the clinic. This means that they will work together with the staff to financially steward the organization, set policy, steer the strategic direction, and uphold the clinic’s mission and values
In order to serve our patients better, the structure of appointments will be changing to include a medical assistant in every visit. Our medical assistants will be spending the first 5-10 minutes of your appointment with you checking vitals, noting chief complaints, updating medications and updating contact info. Medical assistants will also be available for injections and blood draws
All insurance billing will be updated from Sacred Vessel to The Equi Institute
All donations to the clinic are now tax-deductible
We will still be located inside of Q Center
Our services will remain intact and you can continue to see us for your primary care, medically-supported transition, sexual health and wellness needs
All of our staff and doctors
We are currently looking for passionate community members to join The Equi board! If you have never been on a board but are interested in applying, please take a quick look at this article on board service and/or this article on 25 Awesome Things Board Members Do.
Each one of our providers are extensively trained in providing culturally-specific and gender-affirming primary care, medically-supported transition care, bio-identical HRT, and sexual health and wellness services.
Acupuncture and chinese medicine is an incredibly effective treatment for anxiety, stress, depression and chronic pain, among many other health issues. A whole-body treatment approach that will compliment your medical care well.
Therapeutic massage can reduce pain and anxiety for people with chronic illnesses, and reduce the physiological burden of stress. It can help treat conditions including stress-related tension, chronic pain, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, low back pain and depression.
We strongly believe in your right to accessible and informed health care. Each one of our providers are not only queer themselves, but also trained in the philosophy and practical application of the theories of cultural and gender affirming health care, Health at Every Size, Racial Justice, Economic Equality, and Non-Violent Communication, with a focus on community advocacy, education, and positive sociocultural change.
Our clinic practices on a trauma-informed care model which is a strengths-based framework grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and patients, and that creates opportunities for patients to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
Part of practicing in this model means understanding that many of our patients have varying degrees of past trauma, including medical trauma. In an effort to diminish medical triggers, we've worked hard to create an office space that feels more like your living room than your doctor's office.
The Equi Institute is dedicated to providing care that is focused on health at every size, poly-friendly, kink-friendly, fat-positive and 100% gender-affirming - including non-binary and intersex patients.
