Clinic Update

The Equi Institute’s mission is to enrich the health of the trans, queer, and intersex communities through trauma-informed care, gender-affirming medical services, and social justice advocacy. Furthermore, we believe to our very core, that our patients and communities deserve nothing but the best care. In light of some recent challenges we have realized we need more infrastructure and capacity in place to more effectively provide that care.

The Equi Institute Board has made the strategic decision to temporarily suspend clinic operations. During this suspension, Equi leadership will consult with health and nonprofit experts, survey former patients, host community focus groups to gather feedback, and assess areas for improvement before Equi's reopening. This temporary suspension will provide us the opportunity to rebuild an Integrative Health program that will better serve the needs of our community.

This decision has not been made lightly. We know, through the knowledge and experience we’ve gained over the past several years, that restructuring the clinic at this opportune moment will only make our programming stronger and allow us to serve our community in more sustainable and deeper ways. We are committed to the health of our communities and are working tirelessly to better serve them.

We know that news like this can be worrisome, especially given how the new year has already started out for the country. We want to assure our communities that this is indeed an opportunity for us to continue service with an eye towards long-term health and sustainability of both the clinic and our communities.

Appointments for existing patients will be available at the clinic until January 31st, 2020. Dr. Oshin will be moving their practice to a new location starting February 1st and will be in touch with their patients about the details. Dr. Adrianne and Kat will be personally contacting patients to ensure they have the resources they need to connect to other care.

We would like to thank all of our patients, doctors, staff, volunteers, supporters, and board members for their dedication to our communities and for believing in our mission. We remain hopeful and look forward to this next stage of growth. Please direct any questions, concerns or offers of support to our Chief Operations Officer, Katie Cox.
